PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device which enables stable supply of a lubricant to an image carrier by preventing a brush roll from being stained with a toner etc. when the image carrier is coated with the lubricant by the brush roll, then suppress a filming phenomenon and flawing of the surface of the image carrier when a residual toner is cleaned, and maintain a photosensitive characteristic of the image carrier for a long period. SOLUTION: The cleaning device comprises a cleaning blade which comes into contact with the surface of the image carrier and scrapes a toner off the surface, a coating brush which is provided between the cleaning blade and a toner image transfer position and coats the surface of the image carrier with the lubricant after a toner image is transferred, and a toner sticking preventive power source which applies the coating brush with a bias voltage for preventing a toner from sticking on the coating brush from the image carrier.
