SPACER FOR CYLINDER BLOCK, AND CYLINDER BLOCK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer for a cylinder block, which reduces an amount of heat drawn from a cylinder bore wall, and to provide a cylinder block equipped with the spacer. SOLUTION: (1) The spacer 1 for a cylinder block is used in a closed deck type cylinder block and is installed to a water jacket by inserting it into the water jacket 11 through a hole formed in the cylinder block. The spacer 1 is formed to be deformable such that a side facing the cylinder bore wall closely contacts with or is close to the cylinder bore wall after the spacer is inserted into the water jacket. (2) The closed deck type cylinder block 10 is provided with the spacer in the water jacket. The cylinder block is processed according to a size of the spacer 1. In the block 10, a hole according to the size of the spacer is formed to be connected to the water jacket. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
