PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document reader equipped with holding members capable of stably holding documents. SOLUTION: A pair of holding members 40L and 40R are linked to left and right width regulation plates 17L and 17R and provided at positions on the front side (the upstream side in an original feeding direction) rather than a guide table 16 and lower than the guide table 16. The holding members 40L and 40R are integrally formed from resins, for example, and have downward projecting curved surfaces 411L and 411R, and the curved surfaces 411L and 411R receive cylindrically rolled portions of a document D to be pulled out onto the guide table 16. Perpendicularly folded one-side terminals 421L and 421R sides of the holding members 40L and 40R are linked to slide plates 23L and 23R together with terminals of slide parts 19L and 19R. The holding members 40L and 40R are moved in the direction of the width as the slide parts 19L and 19R are slid in the direction of the width of the guide table 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
