PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress coloration of a polymer itself as an electroconductive polymer type electrochromic material and to attain a perfect coloration. SOLUTION: The electrochromic display component comprises a first transparent electrode, an electroconductive graft polymer layer disposed in contact with the first transparent electrode and comprising an electroconductive graft polymer obtained by linking a backbone which is an electroconductive polymer and a conjugated molecular pendant together by way of a metal or a metal ion, an electrolyte layer kept in contact with the electroconductive graft polymer layer, and a second electrode holding the electroconductive graft polymer layer and the electrolyte layer between the electrode and the first transparent electrode. An electroconductive graft polymer composition comprises a conjugated electroconductive polymeric material and a conjugated molecular pendant which varies the light absorption region of the conjugated electroconductive polymeric material and exists by way of a metal (or a metal ion).
