PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can effectively prevent the generation of strike through by surely extracting pages with the possibility of strike through when double-sided printing is selected. SOLUTION: There are set a sensing means (16 and 163) for detecting a dot density at an image region of a preliminarily set range when a double-sided printing mode is selected, a detection means (11) for judging whether or not the dot density measured by the sensing means (16 and 163) is not smaller than a threshold, and a limiting means (11) for limiting the execution of the selected double-sided printing mode when the dot density is detected by the detection means (11) to be not smaller than the threshold.
