MAGNESIUM BASED ALLOY FILAMENT BODY AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium based alloy filament body which can be lengthened, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The magnesium based alloy filament body has the diameter d within the range from 0.1 mm to 10 mm, and the length L larger than 1000 d, and includes connections at which a plurality of unit filaments are joined with each other. The magnesium based alloy filament body has the toughness that the breakage started from the position in the neighborhood of the connections described above does not occur even if the drawing of the reduction in area larger than 50 % is carried out. The filament body is obtained by performing a process for forming a connected material by connecting a plurality of unit materials composed of magnesium based alloy materials and a process for forming a filament body by drawing the connected materials for reducing the area within the range from 10 to 20 % at a temperature from 100 to 200°C.
