A liniment (I) for treating skin eczema or especially neurodermatitis comprises (a) an extract of sage leaves and (b) an ointment base. (N.B. 'Sage' in the present context includes Salvia lavandulifolia, Salvia mitiorrhiza, Salvia sclarea, Salvia triloba and Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary), as well as normal sage (Salvia officinalis)). An independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I), by mixing an extract of dried or fresh sage leaves with an ointment base.
