PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method, a device and a coin auxiliary identifying device for automatic vending machine effectively functioning against a crime using a forged coin without impairing the original function in operation of an automatic vending machine. SOLUTION: This coin auxiliary identifying device 3 identifies a coin 1 by a first discriminating means 4 and a second discriminating means 5 when inputting the coin 1, and outputs a forged coin signal to a coin processor 7 when the forged coin signal is not invalidly set by a signal switching setting switch 6 when discriminated as the forged coin, and does not output the forged coin signal to the coin processor 7 when the forged coin signal is invalidly set. The coin auxiliary identifying device 3 outputs a coin reception prohibiting signal to the coin processor 7 when a coin reception prohibiting signal is not invalidly set by the signal switching setting switch 6 when abnormality is caused in the coin auxiliary identifying device 3 in a standby state, and does not output the coin reception prohibiting signal to the coin processor 7 when the coin reception prohibiting signal is invalidly set.
