PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for reforming fuel which is capable of being started-up with absolute minimum energy without consuming energy unnecessarily. SOLUTION: The apparatus for reforming fuel is provided with a fuel evaporation means 3 for evaporating supplied fuel, a heating means 4 capable of heating the fuel evaporation means 3 and a fuel reforming means 5 for reforming the fuel evaporated in the fuel evaporation means 3 to produce a hydrogen-enriched fuel gas. The fuel evaporation means 3 and the fuel reforming means 5 are arranged so as not to be brought into contact with each other even when the fuel evaporation means 3 is heated by the heating means 4 to be warmed up in the starting-up and so as to be brought into contact with each other by the thermal expansion with the heat generated when the hydrogen-enriched fuel gas is produced in the fuel reforming means 5 after the warm-up.
