A method for detecting and checking reflective properties of a web product (P), comprising the steps of: a) irradiation of at least one predetermined zone (A) of the web product (P) with electromagnetic radiation emitted by at least one source (1); b) detection of the electromagnetic radiation reflected by the predetermined zone (A) of the web product (P); c) detection of the electromagnetic radiation emitted directly by the source (1); d) spectral division of the reflected and direct electromagnetic radiation; e) conversion of the spectrum of the reflected electromagnetic radiation into first digital electric signals and the spectrum of the direct electromagnetic radiation into second digital electric signals; f) processing of the first and/or second digital electric signals; g) correction of the first digital electric signals so as to compensate for any errors induced by a lack of uniformity and/or variations in the emission intensity and/or frequency of the source (1).
