PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ameliorate liquid leakage problem and prevent damage to a bottom portion of a positive can due to a lift pin. SOLUTION: A coin type alkaline battery is so constructed that the positive can 1 containing a positive mixture 4 having silver oxide or manganese dioxide as a positive active material, and a negative cup 3 containing a negative mixture 6 having zinc or zinc alloy powder as a negative active material, having an opening edge U-sectioned into an outer circumferential turnup portion 13b and a turnup bottom portion 13a along an outer circumference, and having an inner surface of copper, are sealed up via a gasket 5, and that a separator 5 is arranged between the positive mixture 4 and the negative mixture 6 and injected with an alkaline electrolyte. Pressure insertion of the gasket 2 makes a portion along an outer circumferential edge 5a thinner than an inner portion 5b in the separator 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
