PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile communication apparatus that can surely realize, by a user's setting, the execution of V.34 procedures and of V.34 picture transmission, the execution of V.21 procedures and of V.27ter, V.29 or V.17 picture transmission after V.8 procedures, and the execution of the V.21 procedures and of the V.27ter, V.29 or V, 17 picture transmission without the execution of the V.8 procedures. SOLUTION: This facsimile communication apparatus has a means for performing the execution of the V.34 procedures and of V.34 semi-dual primary channel transmission after the execution of the V.8 procedures, or the V.21 procedures and the V.27ter, V.29 or V.17 picture transmission after performing the V.8 procedures and a means for performing the V.21 procedures and the V.27ter, V.29 or V.17 picture transmission without performing the V.8 procedures.
