CYLINDER BLOCK, SPACER AND GASKET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block, a spacer and a gasket preventing incorrect installation of the spacer. SOLUTION: The closed deck type cylinder block 10 in which the spacer is installed, the spacer or the gasket is configured such that: (1) water holes having no need for installation of the spacer are formed in a shape in which the spacer can not be installed; (2) the spacer projects above an upper surface of the cylinder block when the spacer is installed in the water hole having no need for installation of the spacer; (3) the spacer can not be inserted into a water jacket or the spacer projects above the cylinder block upper surface when a type of the spacer and the shape of the water hole are not correctly matched; (4) the spacer 1 interferes with the water jacket when the spacer is inserted in the water hole where the spacer should not be inserted; or (5) the spacer 1 interferes with the gasket when the spacer is inserted in the water hole where the spacer should not be inserted.
