PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material which obtains sufficient sharpness, satisfactory hue/color density (blue background color) after treatment, prevents a background color from changing due to preservation, and is very easy to handle. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has, on a substrate, one or more photosensitive layers containing organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide and a reducing agent, and one or more non-photosensitive layers. In the heat developable photosensitive material, the photosensitive layer is a coated layer formed by applying and drying a coating liquid in which 30 wt.% of the solvent is water. In addition, the photosensitive layer comprises lipophilic particulates obtained in such a manner that dyestuff which is substantially insoluble in water is dissolved and dispersed in at least one kind of inorganic solvent which is incompatible with water and has a high boiling point not less than 140°C.
