The machine for labeling rows of articles (10, 12, 14) in parallel columns on a conveyor comprises a label feed (48, 50, 58) which separates the labels from a backing strip. They are then fed on to a transverse conveyor whose speed is adjusted so that the spacing of the separated labels (60, 62, 64, 66) corresponds to that of the articles.
