PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain various kinds of information about a program and performers appearing in the program, which are not obtained by a program explanation of an EPG (electronic program guide), from a web site on the Internet. SOLUTION: A receiver 11 fetches the information about the EPG from television broadcast signals, and forms television program information on the basis of the fetched information. Text information of the EPG are transmitted from the receiver 11 to a personal computer 13. A key word is extracted from the text information of the EPG by the personal computer 13. This key word is input into a searching site 22 on the Internet, and a web site concerning the key word is searched by a search engine 23. After the result of this search is returned to the receiver 11 and the related web site is searched, the information are displayed on the screen of a television receiver 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
