<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can completely prevent the erroneous operation of a user in attaching and detaching an image forming unit to and from an apparatus frame and enables the user to attach and detach the image forming unit by a simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: On the premise that the image forming apparatus is constituted so that a recording sheet is inserted between an image carrier and a transfer roll brought into pressure contact with each other and the toner image formed on the image carrier is transferred onto the recording sheet, while the transfer roll is detachably disposed on the image carrying member, the image carrier is mounted on the image forming unit which is freely attachable and detachable to and from the apparatus frame. The image forming apparatus is so formed that the attachment and detachment of the image forming unit to and from the apparatus frame are permitted on condition that the transfer roll is set in a retreat position away from the image carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
