PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device of a motor which stops the motor without consuming electric power from the external in order to stop the motor and quickly after interrupting an energization to the motor. SOLUTION: A solenoid 5 is connected in parallel with a motor 1, the solenoid 5 is driven by energizing to the solenoid 5 a reverse electromotive current generated by an inertial rotation of the motor 1 after interrupting the energization to the motor 1, and a mechanical brake is made by the solenoid 5 to act on a rotating member 8 which is rotatively operated by the motor 1.
