COATING COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition in which a pigment contained therein is stably dispersed without causing agglomeration even in the absence of a dispersion stabilizer and which can form a high-quality coating film excellent in chromaticity; and a simple and easy production method therefor using no surfactant or largely decreasing the amount of a surfactant used. SOLUTION: The coating composition comprises a colorant prepared by coating at least part of the surfaces of pigment particles with a polyhydroxyalkanoate and a dispersion medium for the colorant.
