The present invention relates to a tandem master cylinder (20) including two plunger pistons (2, 4) and its object is to design the cylinder as simple as possible and to render its assembly as economical as possible. This object is achieved by inserting circumferential annular grooves (16 to 19) directly into the housing (15) of the master cylinder (20) in order to accommodate sealing sleeves, namely both the primary seal (6) and, in an improvement of the invention, the primary seal (7) of the piston at the end of the push rod as well as the secondary seals (12, 14) of both pistons (1, 3). Collecting annular grooves (45, 46) at the level of the connecting outlets for the compensating reservoir (5, 10) are further favorable aspects of the invention.
