A steering column device having a steering column provided with a steering lock installation portion on the outer periphery of the column and swingably supporting a steering shaft, and a lock key for latching the steering shaft. The device comprises a steering lock provided with a contact portion that is in contact with one part of the steering lock installation portion of the steering column and a lock bracket provided with a contact portion that is in contact with another one part of the steering lock installation portion. The contact portion of the steering lock and the contact portion of the lock bracket hold and support a steering installation portion of the steering column. The steering lock installation portion of the steering column is in contact with at least either of the steering lock and the lock bracket with a contact face having a non-circular cross section.
