<p>Input and output shaft speed differences at the clutch (12) are measured (15,17) and supplied to an electronic control unit (21) which directs the operation of a motorized drive (18,19,20). The drive actuates a receiver/transmitter hydraulic piston system (2,3) which controls the clutch to avoid juddering. At a modulation limit (M) the transmitter piston crosses a top up tank entry (9) slowly to avoid undue piston seal wear.
