<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a reaction rate of a hydrogen sulfide adsorbent, by removing an organosulfur compound contained in city gas or petroleum hydrocarbon at a temperature of ≤ 200°C and a high reaction speed. <P>SOLUTION: The city gas or the petroleum hydrocarbon is passed through a space over a hydrogenation catalyst, so as to decompose the organosulfur compound into hydrogen sulfide, then the hydrogen sulfide is separated and removed by bringing the hydrogen sulfide into contact with tellurium dioxide or a tellurate compound. Cadmium tellurate, zinc tellurate or copper tellurate is preferably used as the tellurate compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
