<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a date setting device capable of date setting on a camera, while preventing an increase in the size of the camera. <P>SOLUTION: The date setting device 100 which performs date setting on the camera 200 comprises: an electric wave signal receiving circuit 118 which receives an electric wave signal indicative of standard-time information; a time measurement circuit 122 which corrects time based upon the standard-time information obtained by the electric wave signal receiving circuit 118; and a light projecting section 112 which projects a light of beam, as a light signal indicative of the time information indicated by the time measurement circuit 122, to a light receiving sensor included in the AF circuit 206 of the camera 200 which is used in photographing. In this structure, the camera 200 receives a light of beam as a light signal indicative of time information, with an existing light-receiving sensor, and sets a date correctly based upon the time information.
