PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a digital broadcast receiver capable of providing an automatic preset function of the type easily utilizable by a user. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver is additionally provided with a function for successively changing a frequency to be received within a predetermined frequency band to search a receivable signal, and a function for searching a broadcast program included in the signal searched as a receivable signal, i.e. a function for simultaneously carrying out both searches, namely a search for a frequency and a search for a broadcast program included in the frequency. Further, the receiver is additionally provided with a function for establishing hierarchical correspondence between the information relating to the searched receivable signal, and the information relating to the broadcast program included in the receivable signal, and registering them into a preset memory. Because the broadcast program is preset in the preset memory to be in hierarchical correspondence, an automatic preset function very convenient to a user is realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
