PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper separation mechanism in which when a separation member having a pawl is in a released state or urged state, the pawl is immediately brought into contact with a photoreceptor drum. SOLUTION: This paper separation mechanism 30 is arranged to a lower part of a cleaning unit 14, and includes: a support shaft 21 arranged to be parallel with the photoreceptor drum 7; and the separation member 22 and a helical torsion spring 25 which are arranged to the support shaft 21. The separation member 22 has a pawl part 22b capable of coming into contact with a peripheral surface of the photoreceptor drum 7. The helical torsion spring 25 applies elastic force to the separation member 22 thereby urging it so as to separate the pawl part 22b from the peripheral surface of the photoreceptor drum 7. A positioning member 27 having a positioning groove 27a is mounted to the cleaning unit 14. A fixed part 25b of the helical torsion spring 25 is housed in the positioning groove 27a and its position is fixed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
