PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a digital camera capable of shifting into a power-saving mode at a proper timing. SOLUTION: A CPU 32 allows the camera to shift into a power-saving mode when it is judged that an object image represented by digital image data obtained by imaging with a CCD 14 or the like does not move during not less than a predetermined period of time. Also, the CPU 32 allows the camera to shift to the power-saving mode when an operating section 52 is not operated during not less than a second period of time longer than the prescribed time. Furthermore, after allowing the camera to shift to the power-saving mode, when it is judged that the object image does not move during not less than a predetermined third period of time, the CPU 32 brings the camera into a state that power is turned off.
