PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket connector which can prevent a cover from generating lateral deflection in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which a cover slides against a base, and ensure that an insertion pin of a center processing unit chip is stably and electrically connected to a conductive terminal of the socket connector. SOLUTION: The socket connector comprises a base 10, a cover 20 sliding movement capably fitted on the base 10, a plurality of conductive terminals 30 formed on the base 10, a drive unit 40, and an introducing and positioning mechanism 50. The introducing and positioning mechanism 50 has a columnar introducing part 51, a first end 521 and a second end 5221 and contains an introducing groove 52, in which the introducing part 51 is sliding movement capably formed. A receiving region having a space larger than the introducing part 51 is formed to the first end 521 of the introducing groove 52, and an introducing region having a space smaller than the receiving region of the first end 521 is formed at the second end 5221.
