PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of a throughput in continuous printing for printing on a plurality of printing media by reducing a time period from completion of the printing on the printing medium to starting of the printing on the next printing medium. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a conveying mechanism (20) for conveying a printing medium, a paper feeding mechanism (10) for feeding the printing medium, and a clutch (80) for transmitting a force of driving the conveying mechanism to the paper feeding mechanism (10). When the clutch is connected, the force of driving the conveying mechanism is transmitted thereto so that the printing medium is fed to the conveying mechanism. While the conveying mechanism is driven, the clutch is connected thereto to feed the printing medium. As a result, it is possible to reduce the printing time period when the printer performs the continuous printing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
