An optical disk having an information recording density improved by narrowing the spacing between adjacent grooves by reducing the influence of recording interference. The optical disk comprises a substrate (1) having a groove (G) formed therein, a reflective layer (2) reflecting a light beam, a recording layer (3), and a cover layer (5) for protecting the recording layer (3). The order of arrangement from the application side of the light beam is the cover layer (5), the recording layer (3), the reflective layer (2), and the substrate (1). The recording layer formed in the region facing to the groove (G) and having a recording track (TR) formed on the recording layer (3) has a thickness greater than that of the recording layer (3) formed in the region facing to the region on the substrate (1) between adjacent two grooves (G).
