Safety arrangement for a device comprising a heating element

The safety device has a sensor element (5,8) for temperature detection arranged in the device so that it is thermally coupled to the medium in normal operation. A sensor heating element (6,9) heats the sensor element to temperatures that lie above a maximum temperature that the medium can adopt in normal operation if the thermal coupling between the sensor element and the medium is interrupted. AN Independent claim is also included for a method of protecting a device with a heating element for heating a medium.
