Actuating mechanism with stiff driving chain

The lifting table (2) is supported on a scissors linkage with a stepless drive system (1). The drive includes a chain with links (4) shaped to lock together to form a column which is strong in compression and resists buckling. The chain can bend in one direction and passes over a drive sprocket (5). One end of the chain is free and may move in a guide and the other end is connected to one of the scissors links to push it toward the raised position.
