PURPOSE: Provided are a method producing a controlled release, composite antifouling resin comprising amine salt and metal salt of organic acids, and an antifouling coating composition comprising the antifouling resin, which achieves an antifouling property by using vehicle. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (i) primarily reacting (a) an acid group functional polymer having molecular weight of 1,000-50,000, which is selected from the group consisting of vinyl resin, alkyd resin, ether resin, epoxy resin, or silicon resin as first component(component A), and (b) amine compound selected from the group consisting of primary amine, secondary amine or t-amine as second component(component B), and (ii) secondarily reacting (c) a metal component which has less ionization tendency than that of sodium and ion valence of 2 or more as third component(component C), (d) acid group-containing antifouling agent selected from the group consisting of benzotriazole-5-carboxylic acid, 4-benzopyridine-4-carboxylic acid, 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid, 4-maleimidobenzoic acid, 3-(dichloromaleimido)-propionic acid, 4-morpholinepropanesulfonate, nicotinic acid, 4,5-dichloro-2-(7-carboxyheptyl)-3- isothiazole, 3-maleimidobenzoic acid, and triphenylborane-3-nicotinic acid as fourth component(component D), (e) half-ester comprising one ether bond formed by reaction of acid anhydride and ether alcohol as fifth component(component E), and (f) monovalent organic acid of hydrocarbon as sixth component(component F).
