FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for more effective separation of rails into parts. According to proposed method, rail is placed in required position and nick is made on rail is cross direction and nick is made on rail head in longitudinal direction from one of sides of neck in place of connection of head and neck. Forces are applied successively from opposite side of nicks to sections of rail and head with neck and lengths of rail and rail head are separated, thus getting rail lengths ion form of parts separated from each other. Nick in cross direction is made on rail along foot up to side surface of rail neck. Additionally, after making of said nick on head, neck nick is made on neck in longitudinal direction from one of sides of neck in place of connection of neck and foot. In additional to forces mentioned above, forces are applied to section of neck nick from opposite side, and neck is separated from foot. EFFECT: provision of minimum possible size of nicks on rail and maximum number of rail component parts.
