The invention relates to a method for producing bi- and polycyclic ketones and the derivatives thereof. The inventive method is based on the oxidation reaction of condensed alkenes and the derivatives thereof into corresponding ketones by means of nitrogen monoxide or the mixture thereof with an inert gas. The process is carried out at a temperature ranging from 20 DEG C to 250 DEG C and a pressure of nitrogen monoxide of 0.01-100 atm. Said method ensures a high selectivity with respect to target products, explosion safety at work and can be promising for industrial use.
