A well tool 37 is maintained in a constant vertical position within a sub-aqueous well 14 in spite of variations in the height of the water on which the servicing vessel 12 floats. The tool is supported by member 33 in turn supported by a constant length flexible member 38 attached at 43 to a riser 21 fixed to the well. A pipe 26 fixed to the vessel is telescopic within the riser which carries a support 35 for a pulley 34 guiding the member 33. The member 33 may be tubular or include a drill string.</p> |
