A cable sheathing member 3 of plastics material has a layer of adhesive polymer 4 on one or both sides (Fig. 2, not shown), and a layer 2 of foamable (or foamed) polymer composition on one or both sides of the adhesive coated member. Many compounds are listed for the foamed composition of which copolymers of methyl methacrylate and acrylonitrile or methyl acrylate are preferred together with a blowing agent such as neopentane. The adhesive may be a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid; alternative acidic comonomers are listed. |
