The transport installation with a detection device consists of two link chains (1,2) reciprocally connected by a series of cross bars (6) forming a transport surface. The detection device (D) detects the cross bars the connection of which with the link chains is broken. Near the transport surface determined by the cross bars an approach sensor (9) is installed, with the aid of which the cross bar which the sensor does not fully authenticate is identified. This can lead to a cross bar located from a (link) chain being pivoted away.
