COILED TUBING SENSOR SYSTEM FOR DELIVERY OF DISTRIBUTED MULTIPLEXED SENSORS

Lenghts of coiled tubing (10) have sensor carrier elements (12) mounted therebetween, such a plurality of sensor carrier elements (12) are positioned along a length of coiled tubing (10). Each sensor carrier element (12) carries a sensor (30) implemented with one or more intrinsic fiber optic sensor elements (33) positioned therein for measuring one or more parameters in an environment. The intrinsic fiber optic sensor elements (33) are multiplexed on one or more optical fibers (12 2) along the length of the coiled tubing (10) thereby forming a length of coiled tubing (10) having a plurality of spaced apart sensors (12) . The optical fiber (122) or fibers positioned along the length of the coiled tubing are positioned in a fiber carrier (120) which protects the fiber (122) or fibers from the harsh environment.
