FIELD: processes for bending sheet materials in presses. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of stepwise applying effort by means of pressing member along line normal relative to sheet placed on spaced supports while taking into account current bending of sheet with partial elastic return after releasing effort; determining value of return at primary achieving preset bending value when first stage of bending is terminated; in order to realize it, interrupting roll motion and measuring roll effort at current coordinates of point of effort applying; slowly moving roll upwards; when effort changes interrupting roll motion and registering value of roll raising and last effort value; again slowly moving roll upwards; when effort changes interrupting roll motion and registering value of roll raising and last effort value; determining return value according to relation given in claims of invention; then going on bending process until receiving bending value of sheet set according to relation given in claims of invention; determining value of next return; when certain conditions also given in claims of invention are satisfied, going on bending until achieving bending value set according to relation given in claims of invention or terminating bending process.
