FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bactericide materials used in gravity and pressure filters for disinfecting and cleaning tap and natural- source waters. Additive combines two bactericide ion-exchange components: iodine-containing and silver-containing ones. The two components have one- type matrix structure and iodine-containing component is resin depicted by formula R-NAx(J2)x wherein R-NA denotes anion-exchange site, R matrix, N quaternary ammonium base, and A anion, which contains 0.1-1.5 mole-equivalent iodine. This resin forms compound with silver cations showing water solubility at least 10-4 mg/g. Water-treatment sorbent contains above-described additive and carbon-containing material with iodine number at least 900 mg/g.
