FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: title compound, or oxacillin, is prepared by acylation of sodium 6-aminopenicillanate by 3- phenyl-5-methylisoxazol-4-carboxylyl chloride in water-acetone medium while maintaining pH with the range 6.0-9.5, after which desired sodium salt is isolated via diluting reaction medium with an aliphatic alcohol until concentration of water therein 8,9 to 15.9% is attained, after which sodium chloride is separated from solution and product is crystallized during distillation of water-alcohol azeotrope to achieve water concentration in reaction medium no higher than 8%.
