PURPOSE: A vertically adjustable housing shelf made from tempered glasses snap-secured to an injection-molded frame for a refrigerator compartment is provided to cut down the cost by making the shelf of only two materials as the frame and a glass panel and to increase conductivity by covering low surface areas of front, rear, and lateral sides of the glass panel with fingers. CONSTITUTION: A compartment of a refrigerator(R) has sidewalls facing each other and having self-support protrusion units(58,59) vertically separated along the sidewalls aligned horizontally in a pair. A shelf(30) has a glass section closing an opening unit of a frame and a sectional open frame(31) made from injection-molded synthetic materials. Side frame areas(46) facing each other is formed with at least one finger unit having fingers confronting an upper end wall and the sidewalls. The finger units are separated from each other to form a glass section side receiving channel and the related upper end wall. The finger unit slides from the protrusion unit and prevents the glass section and the frame from being separated under load applied on the glass section for carelessly deforming and separating the glass section side unit.
