VSB RECEIVER FOR REMOVING GHOSTS CAUSED BY MULTIPLE PATHS

PURPOSE: A VSB receiver for removing ghosts caused by multiple paths is provided to prevent equalization performance from being deteriorated due to large pre-ghosts generated in a multi-path environment. CONSTITUTION: A VSB receiver for processing an input signal having a plurality of ghosts caused by multiple paths includes a multi-path controller(150) and an equalizer(160). The multi-path controller controls the magnitudes of the plurality of ghosts such that the magnitudes of the ghosts become less than a magnitude of a main ghost. The equalizer compensates a distortion of the input signal. The multi-path controller includes a channel estimator(152) that estimates relative magnitude and position of the plurality of ghosts, a multiplier(156) that multiplies the input signal by the first coefficient, a delay(155) that delays the multiplied input signal by a time distance between a pre-ghost and a main ghost among the plurality of ghosts, an adder(158) that adds the input signal to the delayed input signal, and a divider(159) that dividing the added input signal by the second coefficient.
