PURPOSE: An actuator for an optical pickup is provided to slantly form yoke wings at both ends of an outer yoke corresponding to both side surfaces of a magnet and form magnetic circuits for connecting the yoke wings, the side surfaces of the magnet and an inner yoke, thereby increasing the operation sensibility. CONSTITUTION: An actuator for an optical pickup includes a yoke plate(30) having inner and outer yokes(31,32), a bobbin(50), and focussing and tracking coils(60,62). The outer yoke surrounding the inner yoke is formed with yoke wings(33) at both ends. The yoke wings are slanted outward in the facing direction and protruded beyond both ends of the inner yoke. The outer yoke is mounted with magnets(35) for moving the bobbin by electro magnetic operation between the focusing and tracking coils. The bobbin is supported by a holder(40) mounted to a holder bracket(37) at an end of the yoke plate. The focusing coil surrounds the side surface of the bobbin and the tracking coil is provided at a position facing the magnet.
