PURPOSE: A fluid containing vessel with chemically resistant coating is provided to prevent corrosion, and to reduce contamination of chemicals in the fluid containing vessel by organically coating the inner surface of the vessel with one or more poly(arylene ethers) polymers. CONSTITUTION: A fluid containing vessel comprises a metallic interior surface substantially free of metal oxide, and an organic coating substantially covering the metallic interior surface. The organic layer has a poly (arylene ether) polymer comprising repeating units of the structure: wherein m=0 to 1.0; and n=1.0 - m; and Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3 and Ar.sub.4 are individually divalent arylene radicals. Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3 and Ar.sub.4 are individually divalent arylene radicals selected from the group, but are not isomeric equivalents other than the diradical 9,9-diphenylfluorene. When the organic coating applies to the internal surface of the fluid containing vessel, the coating reduces the potential for corrosion and mitigates contamination of the chemicals stored therein. |
