PURPOSE: A micro-payment system for the EC(Electric Commerce) and an operating method thereof are provided to enable a customer to conveniently buy an article with various payment methods by adding a high intelligence to vending machines, and to enable a subscriber to get the sale information as the marketing data in a remote place. CONSTITUTION: A web server(200) operates the micro-payment system for the EC. A web server database(300) processes and stores the information related to system operation by connecting to the web server. The vending machines(100) are operated by the subscriber registering as a member of a system operator offering an SMS(Short Message Service) service. A customer certification information input tool is installed to the vending machine in order to confirm the identification of the customer(500). An information reader reads the information from a payment tool. An input device enables the customer to directly input the information. A display device displays the information to the customer. A certification server(800) receives the information inputted from the certification information input tool or the information reader. A certification server database(900) includes the certification related information.
