PURPOSE: A multi-tiered Internet security method and a system thereof are provided so that the Internet access point of an internal network can execute not only an update function for the security agent and management agent of a client computer, but also a security function to monitor every communication packet, to intercept network intrusion, and to prevent various malicious codes from being inputted. CONSTITUTION: A two-tiered Internet security system consists of a security sever(11), a security gateway(12) having a generic gateway function and an Internet security function, and a client computer(14) accessing the Internet through the security gateway(12). A filtering module is installed in the security gateway(12), and a security agent is installed in the client computer(14). In case that a malicious code, such as a hacking attempt, virus inflow, etc., is inputted to the client computer(14), a primary malicious code filtering is made at the filtering module of the security gateway(12) and a secondary malicious code filtering is made at the security agent of the client computer(14).
