PURPOSE: Provided is a method for knitting a low intensity pile fabric which elongates the length of the pile while reducing the thickness of the pile to make a fabric with light weight and excellent tactility. CONSTITUTION: A method of knitting a low intensity pile fabric using a loop yarn fed together with a ground yarn comprises the steps of: taking three needles(10) as one group and feeding seven groups of needles per inch to the upper dial of a circular knitting machine such that four kinds of six needles differentiated in the height of the control butt are guided in the sequence of 1,3,3,2,4,4 to keep the intensity of the ground texture in a compact manner; feeding one knife needle(20) per one group of needles to the lower cylinder such that two kinds of knife needles are provided one by one; providing two kinds of cam plates with a pair of upper and lower elevation-selecting cams such that the needles are selectively guided; and repeatedly feeding six needles arranged in the sequence of 1,3,3,2,4,4 and 2,4,4,1,3,3 to the cam plates. The one group of upper needles elevating through the one cam plate knits a pile with three continuous loops in pair with one lower knife needle, which is then cut. Therefore, two stranded cut piles are uniformly distributed while being spaced apart from each other.
