PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for diagnosing a motor controller of an electric vehicle are provided to perform rapidly a diagnosing process and an analyzing process by monitoring controlling processes of various controllers. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for diagnosing a motor controller of an electric vehicle includes a motor(10), an inverter(20), a motor controller(30), and a PC diagnosis unit(40). The motor(10) is used as a driving source. The inverter(20) is used for controlling the driving torque and the speed by supplying three-phase voltage and current to the motor(10). The motor controller(30) is used for controlling operations for driving the motor. The PC diagnosis unit(40) is connected to the motor controller(30) through the RS-232C communication. The PC diagnosis unit(40) is used for detecting and analyzing a control operation of the motor controller(30) and the diagnosis information and updating the motor controller(30) according to the analyzed diagnosis information.
